A house shattered.
The pain that lives on...

Devastating our family, on 3rd March 2006, my younger brother walked out of our home to join Ramakrishna Mission (RKM) and to lead an ascetic life through religious devotion.

Since then my heart stopped on many occasions overcome with grief. Every time I come back to life only because I have my responsibilities towards the family to fulfill and because I can not let them down. He let us down not because he choose a path but because of the huge void he left in our family. Imagine your sibling walking away into thin air never to come back and meet you.

We are four children. Apart from the aforementioned younger brother, I have a younger sister and one elder sister. He was my youngest sibling. My younger sister teaches, I in Dubai as an IT professional, and elder sister is a housewife.

He lived with my mother in our family home and worked out of a home office for the Express. During a work day, he stayed in and out of home as part of work. Often in the evenings he is out for work coming back late at night. Mother wait for him - the only one to get back home.

He took care of the home very well in my long absence and did have an impeccable character with all people liking him. Many in our town didn't know me as I was always away right from my college days but knew him closely. People also kept contact with him being a reporter and sometimes brought up their grievances to be covered by his paper reports.
