Reading,
Speaking, and Writing in English comes instinctively to me these days.
However there was a time I was good at none.
I
know that my language continues to be erroneous. I am however, in a mode
of constant learning and correcting. There was a time my English was
terrible and trying to comprehend it was the thing I struggled most. I
was almost totally ignorant of this fine language then.
It was my father
who reduced the great gulf between me and my English. He was an auditor
with the co-operative dept of Kerala, and also an avid reader. He always
red Malayalam literature and 'Hindu', the popular English news paper;
both of which I loathed. On his part, he truly wished his children
picked up good English.
This article is about how my father, through
persistent effort, led me to this fine language and finally got me
seriously interested in improving my language skills.
