Political
Parties must restrain in Kannur.
15-Dec-00
Once more there is
an end to the violence. It is hoped that, this is a serious commitment
to peace from the part of the political parties.
Politics of
murder in Kannur: Until few days back
rage and revenge reigned Kannur!! In a land were non-violence brought
freedom from British Power, Politics has taken such a violent turn that
people lost all sense of society. Traditionally people of this part of
Malabar, are renowned for their hospitality. Have all those good manners
died for good?
Don’t you see
the mother’s tears? : How can one kill
another human being for the reason that the other does not belong to his
political following? In recent times nowhere else in India you can find
so much political violence. Don’t you hear the cry of the dead man’s
mother? Don’t you hear the cries of his destitute children? siblings?
It’s the
Government’s responsibility : The state
administration, due to clear political alignment with one of the
political party’s does not demonstrate the political will to crush the
violence. While the responsible chief minister of the state has embarked
on a foreign tour, incessant political killing has destroyed many lives
in this district of Kerala.
These were
politicians too!! : Mahata Gandhi,
Pandit Javarharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Maulana Abdul Kalam
Azad, these were leaders of tremendous courage, honesty and
forthrightness. They were leaders, whom people of India adored. If you
follow their writings it can be seen that they have all failed or
committed blunders at some point in their lives. However those blunders
made them stronger and helped them become better leaders. They were
always committed to peaceful means and non-violence. Their fight was
with the British Empire, and they finally won.
History teaches us
that nowhere else in the world a freedom struggle was fought with
non-violence and with minimum blood shed. Today’s leaders are not role
models. They have nothing good to teach the younger generation. They are
taking to defense whenever they are blamed. Never they come out and say.
“I am the sinner”, punish me.
Leaders open your
eyes! : Political parties
must restrain their members from committing more violence. All
outstanding issues must be resolved through direct talks. Let us not
loose any more valuable human life in Kannur. Kannur is nick named
“Bihar of Kerala”. Political parties must not become the cause to
bring such shame to the land.
A Forum has been
opened in CalicutNet to discuss political violence in Kannur.
