Bharath Das is a devotee of Lord Krishna. His
paintings and carvings have been mostly based on Krishna Purans (stories).
The 22 year old youth from Orissa has demonstrated his marvelous
compilations at C.S.I cathedral Hall, Kozhikode. One of his innovative and
beautiful pieces is made on palm leaves with inventive art.
The palm leaves paintings like Poothana Moksham and
Kaliya Mardhanam have been displayed among his vast collection.
The wall engravings, beautifully painted with
Krishnavatars and he has as many as wall portraits made of palm leaves.
Most of his portraits, framed with polished bamboo sticks are also based on
Hindu Puranas like Ramayanam and Mahabhratham etc.
He is a traditional artist with a wide collection of
sublime creations with color and imagination.
This is Das’s second visit in Kozhikode to sell his
highly creative items.
The wall engrave based on Krishna Avatar is a
fascinating wonder.
”It took around six months to complete this
piece.”-says Bharath Das.
The price range of Bharath Das’s product varies from
rupees 25 to 48,000.
Another attraction of the show is wide variety of
handloom cotton and silk sarees.
Prashanth Kumar from Cuttack, Orissa says. ”We use pure
cotton materials for making wide variety of sarees and churidar collections.
Our cottage industry, Maa Tarini Mahila is being run in link with
many self help groups. “
Orissa wedding silk sarees are the costly item among
his wide collection of materials including dresses and dupatas.The range
varies from rupees 10,000 to40, 000.
This is Prashant’s first entourage to Calicut.
Sanjay from Sabarmathy, Gujarat has presented his
fantastic cotton and khadi silk Kurta collections. Price ranges between
rupees 250 to 350.
Abdul Hasan demonstrates the eco-friendly cute cloth
bags, a better alternative to plastic carry bags.
The small and pretty cloth bags are made from Kannur
and it stands apart for its attractive color combination and embroidery
carvings.
Many kitchen cloth sets and aprons made from cotton
clothes of Kannur and Karur are other highlight of Hasan’s collections.
Lucknow Churidar and sarees, Bangal cottons, bedsheets, bangles, ornaments, chappals
and many more items including bags, toys and gift items have been
displayed.
Handlooms and handicrafts are given a government rebate
by twenty and ten percentage respectively.
Kozhikode Corporation Mayor Prof. A. K. Premajam
inaugurated the exhibition.
The show will continue until 26th of March.
