When the young Vismaya, of Koottakkani
U.P.School, lost her voice with extreme happiness, while commenting on her
school‘s achievement in the grand finale of Haritha Vidyalayam, the
educational reality show at Thunjan Parambu, Tirur, hundreds of people
assembled there gave a standing ovation with a vibrant smile on their faces.
The most touching and exciting moments of the program, marked the innocence,
spontaneity and the deep attachment of the student to her school.
| The exciting participation of children and teachers gave
new waves of energy to the innovative way of interactive learning in our
schools. The reality show was organized by IT@school and telecast live
on Doordarshan and Victer’s channel.
The school from Kasargod district got first place by scoring 87.5 for
their overall performance including academic brilliance, infrastructure,
maintaining green environment and effective school administration.
Kottakkal Raja’S High School of Malappuram bagged the second place by
crediting 83.5 for their performance and Thiruvananthapuram Cotton Hill
Girls School, Thiruvananthapuram and Changanassery SBHSS shared third
prize with 71.5 points each. |

Students and teachers of Koottakkani School received a
cash prize for rupees 15 lakh and credentials from M.T.Vasudevan Nair, the
chief guest of the grand finale. Rajas School got rupees 10 lakh and third
prize holders were awarded with 3.5 lakh rupees and credentials each.
N.M.H.S.S. Peringathur, PPMHSS Kottoookkara, ALPS
Peringode, SDVGUPS Neerkunnam, GHSS Avanavancheri, GUPS Keechery were the
fourth to 10th place winners in the final, respectively. These
schools were awarded with two lakh rupees and certificates as encouraging
prize.
A jury, chaired by the famous educationalist and
environmental engineer; Dr. R.V.G Menon, selected the winners in the state
level competition. Other members were noted writer and teacher Akbar
Kakkattil, freelance journalist K.R.Meera and Social Policy Officer of
UNICEF, Hyderabad; Dr. Piyush Antony.
IT@ School mission Executive Director, the man behind
the program, K.Anvar Sadath welcomed the audience, distributed mementos to
all participant agencies for their whole hearted cooperation and expressed
the vote of thanks.
