India is one of the quickest flourishing high-technology markets. India,
integrating with world economy, is competitive in IT, pharmaceutical, auto
component, and steel sectors and this led to a rise in the educated working
class.
In external trade, substantial liberalization has been taking place and
this has imparted effective competitiveness in the domestic sector up to
world standards in many sectors. In the banking sector, there has been an
increase in the number of foreign bank branches in India in recent years and
this necessitated an improvement in the scale of operations in Indian banks.
In the agricultural sector, it has been recognized that there is a need to
ameliorate productivity and output to meet the objectives of employment and
growth. Tourism is another sector, which has the potential to generate
tremendous employment opportunities along with airports and seaports, but
things has to be implemented at a greater pace in order to witness a good
outcome.
Each and every one of these industries would not exist without power and
transportation (land, air or water) and so this along with the hospitality
industry would generate enormous job opportunities. It has been recognized
that generation of one job in the software sector generates three additional
jobs in other sectors, i.e., food, hotel, travel, etc. However, the quality
of urban infrastructure in India is not conducive to global economic
activity. The world is indeed keeping an eye on the flourishing economic
strength of India.
