The
city of Calicut, said to be the land of football fans will host the
prestigious state football league from 11 to 21 April. The championship will
be held at Corporation stadium. Six prominent teams will fight for the royal
challenge trophy. The matches will be played in league-cum knock-out basis.
The participating teams are: KSEB;
CENTRAL EXCISE, TITANIUM, S.B.T, COCHIN PORT TRUST, VIVA KERALA. The teams
will be divided in two groups. Winners, runner ups third place and best
player will get 25,000; 15,000; 10,000; 5,000 thousand respectively as cash
prize.
Each day match will begin at 4.30 p.m.
The inaugural match will be played between KSEB Trivandrum and Central
excise Ernakulam. Calicut corporation mayor M.Bhaskaran will inaugurate the
match. SAB MILLER Ltd. and Procam International are the sponsors. Tickets
will be available from Federal bank, Calicut branch.
Kerala state league has become the
prestigious football league since 1999. Last year KSEB won the title and
SBT was the runner-up.
