We had promised to the nation, “we have given India the
MOON”, the enthusiastic Chairman Madhavan Nair of ISRO said after the
successful landing of MIP (Moon Impact Pro) on the Lunar surface on November
14, Friday 8.31 pm local time.
We, 110 Crores of Indians are proud of this great
achievement, and we salute to Mr. Madhavan Nair and the entire team of ISRO
for reaching this altitude since no other nation ever achieved success for
the first mission itself. We are honoured because November 14 is the day we
all celebrate Childrens day. Great visionary Jawaharlal Nehru was the man
behind our Space Program.
MIP having equipped with radar altimeter, a video imaging
system and a mass spectrometer, provides us information for smooth landing
of our next Chandrayan 2, and thereafter manned lunar mission expected by
2015. Jubilant Dr. Abdul Kalam’s words definitely inspire the budding
astronauts that “we could send our astronauts walk on the moon in 15 years”.
“We know the complexities, infrastructure requirements and
the total cost inputs for our Chandrayan projects may be high”, but we have
to move on, said ISRO chief. Chandrayan is carrying 10 experimental
instruments. The scientific community the world over is expecting that
Chandrayan will unravel previously unknown knowledge about Lunar. The tri
color painted MIP did the work as expected and it is shining on Lunar
surface now, and India's presence on Lunar planet will take us on top of the
world!!
