Kozhikode: Coastal life was badly affected by the Hartal called by fishermen against the extension of trolling ban. Hundreds of fishermen took out a march in front of Kozhikode civil station in protest against the decision. 

The Hartal was complete in the areas like Beypore, Puthiyappa, Vellayil, South beach, Koyilandy, Chombala etc. Shops were closed and vehicles were off the road. 

The district administration had directed 144 in these areas to implement the Supreme Court verdict for extending trolling ban.  However many workers challenged the authorities and called for fishermen to disobey the rule. After this announcement, the coastal areas have been under tight security. Marine enforcement and police have been observing the situation. The government of Kerala announced free ration to the coastal people.
