Kozhikode:
People of Calicut city quiet likely
know this diligent youth. Years back he used to sell snacks and tea for
offices and shops. Ani, from Olavanna has now become a thriving
entrepreneur by selling thousands of snacks to the city.
If he
had sold hundred snacks earlier, now he sells 30,000 as hot-cakes.
Besides this, his unit provides employment to at least 20 people. Both
men and women are working at his firm near Palayam. A devoted group of
workers begin their duty in the wee hours. When the city has fell into
deep sleep, Ani and his group starts to prepare variety of PALAHARAMS
including Pazhamporichathu, uzhunnu vada, sukhiyan, ully vada,
Poricha ada kayappam, bonda... the catalogue goes like this.
For the
last eight years, he has been running this business just near Palayam
bus stand. Earlier he was a hotel worker but due to a crisis in business
he turned to snack making and supplying on experimental basis. This new
idea turned to be a success and he re-structured it as a wholesale
project. His two brothers also joined the firm. He appointed workers for
both cake-making and supplying to hotels, shops and offices.
Many
other hawkers come here to buy snacks and they supply it with tea. A
confident Ani says that the rise in commodity price is a challenge to
run the business. So the profit is very low. Despite price pressures, he
is confident that he has room to grow and flourish.
