Kozhikode: Kozhikode city will be on high alert during the Independence Day celebrations. Terrorist threat all over the nation is affecting Calicut also. Many anonymous calls have been received by police in the past. Two serial bomb blasts near at K.S.R.T.C and Moffusil bus stand, powerful explosives which had been taken into police custody at K.S.R.T.C bus stand etc. are causes for concern. 

Whenever terrorists target the nation these memoirs haunt people. The intelligence officers have received some hints that foreign trained outfits are functioning here under various banners. Police have failed to nab anybody in the above said cases. A powerful explosion in a fisheries boat at Beypore port also points out the suspected terrorist links at Calicut. 

Special police team under city police commissioner has discussed the security arrangements made for Independence Day. High security will be provided for public places and institutions. A raid will be conducted at suspected centres. Security checks will be conducted at railway station, bus stand, cinema theaters etc. Trains, buses and other vehicles will be examined as part of security measures.
