Kozhikode gets two ministers
in the new ministry. They are Elamaram Kareem and Binoy Viswam. Elamaram
represents Beypore constituency while Binoy represents Nadapuram
constituency. Elamaram is in charge of Industrial development and Binoy
has the forest ministry with housing. Elamaram has been working as the
general secretary of CITU, state committee.
With more than two decades of trade
union background, Elamaram is one of the foremost social figure of
Kozhikode. Binoy had been an active leader of AIYF, the youth organization
of CPI. He has visited many foreign countries. He is also the member of
party’s state committee.
Many industrial units in the city had
been closed due to mismanagement and loss. While addressing Kozhikode
corporation council meeting , Elamaram Kareem has said that he will study
the possibilities of re-opening of the wound-up Kerala Soaps and Oils,
Mavoor Gwaliyor Rayons etc.
