IIIT Allahabad should provide knowledge
connectivity to UP Villages which will become the lifeline for the
employment generation potential in the rural ambience through value added
products”.
“This mission will have an impact on
removing illiteracy, upgrading the educational system at various levels for
providing employable education and enriching the teachers at all levels. In
the early mid 1990s the growth in the ICT was non-linear. Subsequently,
there is a stagnation and we are expecting the industry to grow at a
sequential growth of around 25% to 27% and deliver nearly only US $ 60
billion as export business by 2010.
This situation needs change and we have
to aspire to increase our software export to $ 200 billion by 2015”.
Dr Kalam further said “It will need adoption of multiple innovative
strategies by the NASSCOM, IT institutions, IT Industry and the other
industry partners both from the view of supply side management and demand
side management. Computerization of over nearly 15,000 district and
subordinate courts are required to be completed.
The software industry has to provide
solutions for all these tasks within the next three years. Other major
areas of activities for the software personnel are establishment of Village
knowledge centers (100,0000 CSCs)
education and healthcare facility for remote rural areas. With these
missions in front of us in India, the IT professionals today should look for
innovative solutions to provide cost effective, interoperable systems,
products and services to the users, said Bharat Ratna.
He presented a Distinctive Profile of
India by 2020 that include a Nation where there is an equitable distribution
and adequate access to energy and quality water, agriculture, industry and
service sector work together in symphony, the rural and urban divide has
reduced to a thin line, education with value system is not denied to any
meritorious candidates because of societal or economic discrimination.
Elaborating the profile he said India
should be the best destination for the most talented scholars, scientists,
and investors, a nation where the best of health care is available to all,
the governance is responsive, transparent. A Nation that is one of the best
places to live in and is proud of its leadership, added Dr Kalam.
Expressing his idea on ultimate destination for ICT services, former
president said that one million software professionals employed by the
industry. It is necessary to have revenue per capita almost increased by an
order of magnitude – if India needs to become a leader in the knowledge
era. IIIT Hyderabad has to take up number of research projects to transform
India IT industry to a producer of competitive knowledge products.
This knowledge product development is a challenging area such as embedded
software, networking software, real time software and integrated software
for bio, info and nano. IIITA Director Dr MD Tiwari, chief Justice Allahabad
High Court HL Gokhle and Supreme Court Justice Markandey Katju also
