Hawala Racket in Kozhikode :
- Money may be landing up with subversive elements - 02/10/07
By Rajesh Kumar Edacheri.

Kozhikode has been for sometime a centre of various mafia links. This underworld vary from weaponry, black money, etc. Ante-social elements and terrorist links have proved their presence by carrying out miscreant activities.

Now, the police officials have also traced some evidence of hawala dealing in Kozhikode. Certain evidences relating to hawala rackets have been found out from various parts of the city such as Koduvally, Thamarassery, and Villyappally. The police and revenue intelligence officials seized many documents in proof of black money dealings. Bank account details of the involved persons have been also traced.

Why is it that Calicut is a target of subversive groups? This ancient city known as the capital of Malabar is famous for its cultural heritage and communal harmony. City is growing faster with many NRIs, business establishments, tourist hotspots etc.

Miscreants want to ruin the calm and communal harmony by instilling hatred among people, in the name of caste or religion. It is suspected that many youths have received training in subversive activities. Meanwhile many test-operations have been done by terrorist inclined groups. Bomb blasts in the two bus stands that shattered the peace of the city, may be a precursor to something bigger in future. Police did seize explosives and weaponry in the past.

There have been intelligence reports that many youths are getting training in weaponry in various parts of the district. Certain organizations get financial aid from outside to provide training and maintaining the youth. But the government didn’t take it as a serious issue. As a result, many untoward incidents continue to come  out from the district. No thorough investigations have been held and culprits brought to justice. Nexus among certain political leaders and mafia had been alleged. But the surprising matter is; police have no concrete evidence to prove all these.

Hawala dealings for millions of rupees may be the result of foreign aids. Some ante-social forces want to destroy our nation. As part of this, a wide and deep-rooted chain of incidents have been organized all over the nation, according to police sources. They select some cities and try to misguide youth for realizing their hidden agenda.

The hawala racket with international link arises some questions: How this link operated in a state with strong police and intelligence wing? Even though many cases were registered, why the police and government do not come to find those who are complicit in the crime? Here one has to doubt political influence and certain leaders' involvement.

Central intelligence agency earlier mentioned that some political parties in Kerala receive black money. Government should investigate the issue with the help of central agencies to bring out the truth.
