Cinema has bagged 10 National Awards including the prestigious
‘Suvarnakamalam’ for 2006.
"Pulijanmam" directed
by Priya Nandan has been selected for SuvarnaKmalam for the best film. Best
actress award has gone to Malayalam actress Priya Mani for her role in Tamil
film "Paruthy Veena"
Great Malayalam actor
Tilakan has lost best actor award between cup and lip yet again. He had been
considered till the last round for the award. He has been given special
mention from jury for his marvelous act in "Ekantham".
"Drishtantham"
directed by M.P. Sukumaran Nair has been selected as the best Malayalam
film.
Director Madhu
Kaithapram and Kabheer Khan shared the new director’s award for their films
"Ekantham" and "Kabul Express" respectively.
“Karutha Pakshikal”
directed by Kamal has bagged the best family welfare film.
Malayalam got six
awards in the feature section, three in non-feature and one award in script
segment.
Best play back singer
(Male) award has gone to Gurdas Man-Varis sha Ikda Varis (Punjabi)
Arathy Agerkar has
been selected as Best play back singer (female) for her song in Antarnad
(Konkani)
