New Delhi: Indian
Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Allahabad is organizing three day
workshop on Information Communication (ICT) from tomorrow
onwards(20-05-2008) in Ashoka Hotel, New Delhi. The workshop will discuss
e-agriculture, traditional agriculture, health care and ICT, Professional
Education, Rural e Enterprise, Wireless Sensors, Wildlife protection and ICT
and Information Security. The workshop will conclude on 22 May, 2008.
Vice Chancellor of
Defense Institute of Advanced Technology, Pune, Prof. L.M. Patnaik,
Associate Director of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore Prof. P.N.
Balakrishnan, Aun Verma of Ministry of forest, Dharmendra Deo Mishra, IAS,
Tata Consultancy Principal advisor Prof. Ramesh Chandra, Prof. D.K.
Srivstava, Dr. B.M. Baveja, Prof. U.S Tiwari, Prof. Radhakrishna, Prof. G.N.
Pandey, Prof GC Nandi, Prof RC Tripathi, Dr Shirshu Verma and other experts
will participate in the workshop.
The workshop is
organized with an objective of imparting the training to the South Asian
Association of Regional Cooperation SAARC countries in the field of
Information Communication Technology. The workshop is a part of promise made
by Government of India to provide full support to SAARC Countries. SAARC
countries had already stressed the importance of developing infrastructure
and adequate communications networks among member States to reinforce the
process - said IIIT-A Director Dr MD Tiwari.
Vijay Tendulkar
(1928-2008) passes away
Pune: Vijay Tendulkar,
a leading Indian playwright, passed away in Pune today. He was 80. Many of
Tendulkar's plays derived inspiration from real-life incidents or social
upheavals, which provides clear light on harsh realities. He provided
guidance to students of play righting in universities all over the world.
For over five
decades, Tendulkar had been a highly influential dramatist and theater
personality in Maharashtra.
His contribution to
movie and television writing, literary essays, political journalism was
unmatched.
His down-to-earth,
supportive nature attracted many theatre artists around the world. He had
been a great supporter of Salaam theatre; New York based South Asian Theatre
Company.
