: Asia’s first ever Science Conclave will begin at Indian Institute of
Information Technology, Allahabad, on December 15. It aims at promoting pure
sciences with support of Human Resource Development and Science and
Technology Ministries, Government of India.
The event will continue until December 21. Close to 1,300 students pursuing
a bachelor's or master's degree in science and young researchers from across
the country, apart from 600 others who recently cleared their High School
examination, will participate in the conclave which will host around 10
Nobel laureates at the IIIT-A.
According to Dr M D Tiwari, founding Director, IIIT-A, "For the first time
in Indian and Asian history, ten Nobel Laureates, leaders, policymakers,
research scholars and students including the first batch of the "INSPIRE"
program by the Department of Science and Technology will participate in the
conclave to discuss the emerging trends in the scientific research and
technological innovations in world of science”.
“This is a great opportunity for the Indian scientific community
particularly young minds to interact with global veterans and stalwarts in
the respective scientific disciplines. A few thousand scientists,
post-graduate students and others are expected to converge and interact with
the Nobel Laureates at IIIT-A for the event."
Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh will inaugurate the conclave
on December 16 at 12 at the campus. RP Agarwal, Secretary HRD will also
grace the occasion. Famous cine artist and Rajya Sabha MP,Hema Malani along
with her 40 member troupe will present her ballet performance same evening
from 6 pm.
On December 18, Union Minister for Science and Technology, Kapil Sibbal
and Deputy Speaker Lok Sabha, Charanjit Singh Atwal will address the
gathering at 11.30 am. Martin Lewis Perl, Robert C. Richardson Sir Harod
(Harry) Walter Kroto and Sir Anthony James Leggett are among the Nobel
laureates who are to attend the function.
