Kozhikode: The arrest of a young engineer in connection with terror links in Bangalore has become a shock to Keralites because he has his roots in Kozhikode. He hails from Mukkam in Kozhikode. 

He had been staying in Bangalore and has worked with some IT companies. But later he left the multinational company where he worked and started his own venture. Police inquiry disclosed lot of information including his link with former SIMI, the prohibited organization. Police and intelligence officials have said he had even become the part and parcel of some of the explosions and attack. He worked as a carrier of weaponry and documents to terrorist organization. He was arrested while planning another explosion, police said. 

Karnataka Police and intelligence officials visited Kozhikode for collecting more information about this youth. He had been an active member of SIMI for many years. His family members also admitted this while interrogation. It is learned that he had some connection in the inner circles of Calicut district including areas of Koduvally, Kuttiady etc. 

Scientific analysis have been going on in connection with Yahiya’s insurgent activities. Intelligence authorities had warned earlier of the terrorist link of Calicut. Many untoward incidents happened in Calicut too. Two bomb explosions at crowded bus stands, the seizure of highly explosive weapons, etc are some of those known incidents. They had become strong signals of growing terrorist activities in the area.

There are reports that huge amounts of hawala money  along with arms and ammunitions on behalf of small and big terrorist organizations are flowing in to Calicut. Youths are reportedly well-trained and brought up with all comfort that they can't even dream in their life. Accommodation in the heart of city, vehicles, laptops etc are said to be offered besides huge financial aid. 

Calicut city is growing fast. But many ante-social elements are intruding to the city and diminishing its peaceful nature - says social workers and politicians. Terrorist link within city and surroundings is a cause for lost sleep for police authorities and public alike.

Yahiya’s connection with other terrorists has been disclosed by Karnataka police. His arrival in Bangalore and his life-style has been under investigation by the police. How did Yahiya come to contact with terrorist leaders all over India? Why did he stay in rented homes in his home town? Did he intend to carry out attacks inside Kozhikode? These are anxious questions that arose after his arrest.
