The central government is trying to hand over the
control of our agriculture sector to multinationals, said A.Vijaya Raghavan,
general secretary of the All India Agriculture Workers Union (AIAWU).
Speaking at a seminar in Kozhikode Town Hall, he
alleged that the farmers’ rights have been widely violated due to corporate-
friendly reforms of the government.
The government ‘conspiracy’ to permit complete control
of various process of agriculture from production, marketing and research to
seed technology to corporate; challenges our self- reliance in food
production.
The privatization of agriculture sector would harm our
food security system-he added.
Puttaruru Ramayya, the president of AIAWU inaugurated
the seminar organized by All India Karshaka Thozhilali Union National
Council.
AIAWU Joint Secretary Sunit Chopra and M.Govindan
Master were also among the speakers.
