All India Craft Fair has
begun at CSI Hall in Kozhikode. A wide collection of handicrafts and
handloom products from different parts of India is the major attraction of
the event.

has begun at CSI Hall in Kozhikode. A wide collection of handicrafts and
handloom products from different parts of India is the major attraction of
the event. Even at the time of monsoon shower, large number of people visits
the craft show to enjoy the beauty of handmade crafts and possess items that
suits to their minds.
Badal, a young artist
from Orissa came with his palm leave paintings. Bookmark items cost Rupees
twenty five and big wall engravings priced around 30,000 Rupees. Lord
Ganesha, Lord Krishna and many ancient images are artistically blended with
palm leaves and pure art.
Most of the stalls are
run by the young artists who made their merchandise from either their own
homes or from self support groups and small industries.
Jitendar from Haryana
displays his collection of cotton materials of fabulous designs including
ornamented covers for cushion, dining table and sofa. He is also having
glazed cotton items to sell.
Madurai Saris for
Rupees 280 and popular Kannur handlooms are displayed for sale
.Handkerchiefs for Rupees twenty and big mats for Rupees 480 is on sale at
the fair with amazing color ranges, modern designs and artistic fervor.
Attractive floor mats produced with a mixture of cotton and nylon are
offered at affordable price. “These floor mats are fit for modern homes”,
says the representatives of Kannur handloom.
Mouth-fresheners are obtainable in various kinds at a
cost of Rupees forty, sixty and eighty for 100 grams.
Guajarati Kurthas, with wide range of colors and
designs attract youngsters.
Price ranges between 250 and 380 Rupees.
Raipur jewel items are made from the pure gems,
according to the merchants. Bracelets are available for Rupees twenty while
necklaces at Rupees forty .Ear-rings are offered at a cost of 30 Rupees. The
original gems are imported from South Africa and we have processing units in
our place.”-said Siddhartha Dev of Raipur.
Banaras Silk Sarees, Pyjamas, shirts, wall hangers, and
interior decorating crafts, metal idols of Gods, silver ornaments and jute
sandals are also attracting visitors thanks to its creative designs and
reasonable prices.
Special discount of twenty and ten percentage are
available for handlooms and handicrafts respectively.
The exhibition cum sale of the products will be opened
until 17th of June.
