Kozhikode:
Congress has not won a single seat in Kozhikode district. Muslim League
contributed all the three seats into the UDF account in Kozhikode.
Muslim League performed well by winning 20 seats out of 24, fought in the
Assembly poll.
Thirteen seemed to be
unlucky for both fronts and the BJP. Even UDF won, its majority is unhealthy
while LDF lost the chance to set up a government for continuity. The BJP
lost its long time dream to open an account in the Kerala Assembly. Polling
for 13th legislative assembly was held on 13th April
and the result was declared on 13th May, 2011.
Congress didn’t get a
single seat in Kozhikode district.
The defeat in the
Vatakara constituency has been a shocking experience to the UDF camp, while
the front had enough chance to win the seat.
Congress led United
Democratic Front (UDF) has won the minimum majority in the assembly poll
held on April 13. The UDF won 72 seats out of 140 seats in the Kerala
Assembly.
The main rival
Communist Party of India (Marxist) led Left Democratic Front (LDF) won 68
seats. Bharathiya Janatha Party (BJP) couldn’t bear fruits of its long time
dream to open an account in the Kerala Assembly.
It was a neck to neck
fight in almost all seats. The UDF had a clear edge over its rival front in
the very beginning of the election campaign; even the front had confusion
over the selection of candidates.
But the Left front
recovered its weak run with the entry of V.S. Achuthanandan into the fray as
the key campaigner of the party and the front.
Achuthanandan won his
Malampuzha seat. He defeated his nearest rival and the UDF candidate Latika
Subhash over a margin of 23440 votes. This is his second continuous turn at
Malampuzha in Palakkad.
The leader of
Opposition Oommen Chandy was elected with a margin 33255 at Puthuppally in
Kottayam and Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee President (KPCC) Ramesh
Chennithala defeated his opponent G.Krishna Prasad with a margin of 5520 at
Haripad in Alapuzha.
K. Muraleedharan, the former KPCC president won his
election at Vattiyoorkavu in Thiruvananthapuram with a margin of 16,167
against his CPM independent candidate Cherian Philip.
The LDF has once again proved Kozhikode district as
it’s strong
fortress with 10 seats out of 13 while UDF got three
seats, thanks to League.
LDF won Kozhikode North (A.Prdaeep Kumar-8998)
Beypore (Elamaram Kareem-5316), Elathur (A.K
Saseendran-14654) Kundamangalam (P.T.A Rahim-3269) Balussery-(Purushan
Kadalundi-8882) Koyilandi (K-Dasan-4139)
Perambra (K.Kunhammad-15269) Kuttyadi (K.K Latika-6972)
Vatakara (C.K Nanu-847) Nadapuram (E.K Vijayan-7546)
The UDF won Kozhikode South (M.K Muneer-1376)
Koduvally (V.M Ummer-16552) Thiruvambady (C.Moyin
Kutty-3833)
