She noted that North Malabar was the most affected part
of CPIM’s deliberate and destructive killings. A young boy belonged to back
ward community was beaten to death by the CPM.
Commenting the CPM‘s call for democracy in the Parliament and through media,
she asked ‘Is this your democracy to kill the people who are not belonging
to your ideology?’
Oppressing people and attacking the people with
different political ideology is your democracy?’
The left in Kerala was trying to make wrong campaign on many welfare
projects like Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Assurance Scheme, promised in
the UPA manifesto and implemented throughout the years, as the LDF’s
credit-said Sonia Gandhi.
“Fifty percentage of reservation for women in the local bodies was given by
the UPA. Support price of paddy has been increased. Right for Education bill
introduced by the UPA government would be historic since every single child
in the age group of six to fourteen in the country would have a free and
compulsory education. First time in the history of India, a specific
ministry has been formed for the minority community alone.”-she pointed out.
‘Regardless of political difference, the UPA government
has sanctioned huge amount of money to all states. Kerala should say, where
all that huge money is?’
“We will soon implement the food security law and since its implementation
poverty will be eliminated.
“We don’t make false promises.
A government under UDF with same wavelength of the UPA in the centre would
work together in co- ordination for the upliftment of the people of Kerala,
especially the poor and downtrodden people. Kerala’s image of peaceful and
welfare state should be recovered,” Sonia concluded. K.P.C.C president
Ramesh Chennithala presided over the function and introduced UDF candidates
to party workers. District Congress Committee president K.C Abu welcomed the
gathering and UDF district convenor MC Mayin Haji expressed vote of thanks.
