Kozhikode : Media men and newspaper employees observed a day- long
fast in Kozhikode along with all district headquarters in Kerala, demanding
the urgent implementation of wage board recommendations. Former Member of
Parliament and Hindustan Masdur Sangh leader Thampan Thomas inaugurated the
strike in front of Income Tax Office at Mananchira. Various trade union
leaders and journalists addressed the protesters.
The agitation was part of a state wide fast and work
protest ,jointly organized by Kerala Union of Working Journalists ( KUWJ)
and Kerala News Paper Employees Federation (KNEF)
The Co-Ordination Committee of KUWJ and KNEF has
blamed the central government for its alleged move to sabotage the
execution of Justice D.R Majithia Wage Board recommendations for revising
the wages in media houses.
KUWJ district President R. Madhu Shankar presided.
KNEF district secretary PP Babu Raj welcomed the gathering and Press Club
Secretary K. Premnath expressed vote of thanks.
