Prof.P.Jayendran, while speaking
on the occasion of Rabindranath Tagore’s 150th
(sesquicentennial) birth anniversary celebrations at Alakapuri in Kozhikode.
Enquiring mind,
findings and the ecstasy of the inventions are the gist of Tagore’s poems-
said the Professor. Tagore’s novel Shesher Kobita,
stands for ‘love’ and
it is still passionate among the lovers-he said, highlighting the wide
acceptance of the novel among Bengali youth, even today…
Dr.Arsu presided over
the function. Dr.C.Rajendran inaugurated the literary discussion on the
works of Tagore. N.E.Bala Krishna Marar honored Prof.P.Jayendran, the
Malayalam translator of Rabindranath Tagore’s most famous Bengali romantic
novel Shesher Kobita.
Dr.P.K.Chandran
introduced Prof.P.Jayendran to the audience.
N.E Manohar,
K.G.Raghunath also spoke at the function.
Poets meet was
inaugurated by M.N.Paloor. Poets P.M.Narayanan, Malayath Appunni,
P.N.Chandran, K.Varadeshwari, M.S.Balakrishnan, P.L Sreedharan, Mundyady
Damodaran, K.Vinod Nambiar, K.Sreerama, K.V.Sakeer Husain recited their
poems. P.P Sreedharanunni presided over the meet.
Chendan Thulaseedalam
welcomed the gathering and T.P.Mammu expressed vote of thanks.
A.D.Madhavan,
P.Sangeetha and Dr.P.I.Meera, presented musical recitation of Tagore’s
poems.
The function was
jointly organized by Bhasha Samanwaya Vedi and Poorna Publications,
Kozhikode.
