Kozhikode : Rahul Gandhi, the youth icon and general secretary of All India Congress
Committee (AICC) has said the UDF will lead Kerala into new heights of
development by providing more possibilities of industrial investment and job
opportunities. Addressing a UDF campaign at Kizhoor Chovva Wayal, Payyoli in
Kozhikode, Rahul explained his front’s philosophy, “is to create
industrialization and we use the money from that to support the poor people
in health care, education and training of youngsters. Growth without
inclusion of the poor is of no use.”
“The UDF has a mix of youth and experienced leadership to give inclusive
development. We will try in to ensure the youngsters in Kerala can work in
Kerala. Finally you have a UPA government in Delhi and hopefully you will
have a UDF government in Kerala. Both the government in partnership can
create a vibrant new Kerala.”
We have created a good industrial environment and the impression that India
is growing fast. This is the only reason for getting money for running these
highly expensive projects. India has become one of the best destinations for
industrial investment.
But if you ask where they like to invest in India they opt for Haryana,
Maharashtra, Andhra, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Kerala’s name is not there in
the investor’s list. If you ask the reason, they will tell you there are no
infrastructure and the environment for investment. They will also tell that
government of Kerala doesn’t make environment for new industrial
investment.”
In Kerala, the first source of money came from the UPA government in Delhi.
Never before in the history of Kerala, had such a huge amount of money come
from centre-he said. “The second source of money is that comes from the
earnings of our brothers and sisters in the overseas, in the countries like
Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.”- Rahul pointed out. He praised the
contribution of Kerala youth for their great contribution for the making of
Dubai.
Rahul said Kerala government was doing nothing for industrialization.
Millions of unemployed youths were searching for job here. “There are three
options to get a job in Kerala. First option is to go outside the state.
Second option is Middle East or United States. If you want a job in Kerala
as a third option, you need to be Communist Party of India (Marxist) CPIM.
“Rahul said amidst loud applause.
“The UDF doesn’t believe in this style. Our organization will always come
after the interest of the people of Kerala. The left front on the other hand
believes that the most important thing is the organization of the left. They
believe that the organization should come before the interest of the people
of Kerala.”
Touching the local issues of Koyilandy, being the coastal area, Rahul
underscored the need for opening a sub centre of Fisheries University and
Fisheries Polytechnic. He promised the development of Fishing Harbor at
Koyilandy which began during the UDF ministry. He also pledged the re-
opening of coconut complex at Thiruvangoor and the promotion of coconut
industry. He also highlighted the need for protecting the handloom industry.
He began his speech by apologising for coming late in the meeting due to bad
weather. Rahul’s visit was scheduled at 3 p.m earlier but he arrived only at
6.15. Hundreds of UDF workers including lots of women and children had been
waiting for Rahul since afternoon.
T.T Ismail welcomed the gathering. DCC president K.C Abu presided over the
function and Rajeevan expressed vote of thanks. The UDF candidates K.P Anil
Kumar (Koyilandi), A Balaram (Balusseri) and Soopy Narikkatteri (Kuttiyadi)
were introduced to the electorate in the meeting.
