politics in people’s welfare schemes. 112 houses would be built for the
homeless at Chappayil - Pallikkandy beach in Kozhikode as the third phase.
Government, bureaucrats and people should join hands to attain the best
development model. “
Chief Minister Oommen
Chandy has said Shanthinagar Model Village, the housing welfare
project for 340 coastal families at West Hill beach in Kozhikode; the former
Bangladesh Colony is a model for the whole state by giving the message, that
there is no political difference in people’s welfare schemes. Each family
would be benefited with a house of 4.15 lakh in three cent plot. Speaking
after laying the foundation stone of Shanthinagar Model Village and
announcing the launch of second phase of Sparsham project at the Bhutt Road
beach, he called upon people to become collective force and march to
prosperity.
The government,
bureaucrats and public should move together to attain the best development
model.
He insisted people of
the beach to join together to make the dream come true and meaningful in a
time bound manner, with social commitment while the whole society has
recognized their effort.
“Make this project a
serious, meaningful, time bound and get benefited to your children, hygienic
living of people and become good citizen as expected.”
He clarified that there
was no anxiety over the project while the housing scheme would be
implemented at their own plots marked in the title deeds (pattayam). The
government would provide unclaimed land for those who have no pattayam
at all at the same village.
Informing the robust
audience, from children to old men that the district collector Dr.P.B
Saleem’s plea for constructing seaside protection walls to this locality, CM
said a fund for one Crore seventy lakh rupees has been sanctioned.
The crowd welcomed the
announcement with loud clap.
As the third phase of
Model Village, Chalakkal-Pallikkandy and Vatakara Thazhe Angady coastal
housing projects would be implemented – he said. Minister Dr. M.K Muneer
and Central Home Minister for State Mullappally Ramachandran had requested
for Pallikkandy and Thazhe Angadi Projects respectively.
112 houses would be
built in Chppayil - Pallikkandy project.
Model Village project is one among 100 days action
plans of the United Democratic Front government, targeting to tackle the
backwardness of the locality by providing homes with basic amenities
including drinking water, garbage procession, roads , footpaths and
electricity etc.
Sparsham has been a development project for empowering
coastal women with various self employment schemes. Its main objective is to
maintain communal harmony and good rapport among families living in Marad
beach.
The coastal belt locality (Bangladesh Colony) had been
sidelined in development for many years and residents were kept apart from
mainstream society due to various reasons. The youngsters of the colony were
widely used by anti –social elements and drug mafia.
Revenue Minister Thiruvanjoor Radha Krishnan presided
over the function.
The District Collector Dr. P.B Saleem welcomed the
gathering. Central Home Minister for State Mullappally Ramachandran, M.K
Raghavan M.P, Corporation Mayor Prof. A.K.Premajam, MLAs A. Pradeep Kumar,
Purushan Katalundy, E.K Vijayan, C.K Nanu, Ummer Master were among the
speakers. RDO Bhargavi expressed vote of thanks.
