Kozhikode : The
UDF government is helping big corporates and private managements in the
general education sector, alleged Elamaram Kareem MLA.
Inaugurating Kerala School Teachers Association (KSTA) dharna
near Central Library at Mananchira in Kozhikode, the ex-minister said
the education policy of new government would ruin what the state has
achieved throughout the years and the new environment will help corporates
enter into the education zone.
Education will become a trade, if things go like this,
he noted while commenting the government move to sanction unrecognized
schools and start new CBSE Schools while government schools are critically
facing student shortage. ‘With no government control, the education becomes
a private affair. The consequence is not small and not only affecting
teacher’s job, but it has long lasting result. By doing this, we will lose
the year long social justice, we have achieved through education and affect
our society negatively’-he said
Kareem pointed out that during LDF tenure, government
schools improved learning standard by the strenuous efforts and involvement
of parents, teachers and local body.
He called upon teachers’ fraternity to come forward to
resist the government move and fight for the survival of government schools.
KSTA Kozhikode district secretary K.K Raghunathan
presided over the function.
K.T Balakrishnan, V.P Indira, K.Badarunnisa were among
the speakers.
The dharna was organized as part of KSTA’s state wide
campaign in all district headquarters for protecting general education.
