Kozhikode : We should uphold
the great tradition of farming as part of our life more than just a
livelihood, said the Minister for agriculture K.P. Mohanan.
Addressing the
gathering after inaugurating Mango Fest at Gandhi Park in Kozhikode, he
underscored the need of participation of more people especially the
youngsters in the agriculture sector to revamp it. “Researches and
training is necessary to make a lead in this field.
The central
government has sanctioned seventy seven crore rupees to agriculture
sector. From seed to marketing is the project on the cards, to benefit
the farming sector.” - he said.
“We must protect
our conventional cultivation methods and simultaneously awareness
programs should be implemented to attract more people to farming sector.
It is mandatory to reach all types of government grants to the hands of
farmers at the right time.”- the Minister noted.
Calicut Agri-Horticultural
Society Secretary Dr.R.Ansari welcomed the gathering. The Vice President
Thomas Mathew presided over the function. A. Pradeep Kumar M.L.A was the
chief guest.
