Kozhikode: V.S.Achuthanandan became more
vigilant after he took oath as Kerala chief minister. Other faction lead by
Pinarayi Vijayan feel disappointed over the decision of V.S handling the
vigilance and ante-corruption and some other important portfolios like I.T,
NORKA, Planning and economic affairs, information and public relations.
Earlier the party had decided to give only general administration portfolio
to V.S. However at the time of dividing portfolios, V.S became more
hard-line and determined to get more decisive departments.
Normally the party would decide
portfolios of its ministers. Now Achuthanandan has broken that law. Pinarayi
faction, the majority group of the party is unhappy about this. Why they are
afraid of V.S is the new question? Central leadership’s rethinking on the
decision that V.S not to contest in the election itself was a historical
one.
Since then V.S has been in the forefront
of Kerala politics. Pinarayi faction had to withdraw their plan to keep away
the CPM veteran leader. Common people despite party politics are expecting
something from V.S. He had attained such a clean image and became People’s
leader. During his tenure as opposition leader he had intervened in common
man’s issues and fought against mafia. This image helped decisively in the
general elections. But among the party forum Pinarayi faction has the
crucial power.
On one hand, common people and many
party men struggling for V.S and on the other party leaders (Pinarayi) have
become helpless to control senior leader like V.S. Now it is up to the party
central leadership’s to solve the factional problem in the party.
It is difficult to tame V.S as he is not
ready to any sort of compromise with his colleagues. In such a situation to
lead the ministry without the co-operation of other faction members is very
strenuous. “Wait and see”, opines some political analysts.
