V.S. wins the tug-of war :
-
and rishi raj the heart of people

In the recent days, Kerala witnessed the toughest of political cold war among the CPM party leaders namely chief minister V.S Achudananthan group and the party’s state secretary Pinaray Vijayan group.

The beginning of this political back stage drama can be traced back to the candidate nomination at the time of establishing the left democratic federation (LDF) government, when the Pinarai Vijayan group who are the majority succeeded in keeping out V.S. One of the senior and the most influential leader of kerala from the nomination list, but V.S had by then become the spirit and hope of the public by his successful interruption in many anti-nature and anti-public policies of the former government. A great amount of demonstration and protest shook the streets. The big public support for a political leader in the recent times forced the politburo to nominate V.S at the malampuzha consistency.

It was a slap on the face for the other group but they made a difference by bagging all the major and influential departments trying to make the chief minister post just a rubber stamp in which they succeeded to a certain extend. The decision to avoid C.B.I probe into S.N.C lavlin allegation and the decision to sign the A.D.B contract was taken without the consent of the chief minister. Making V.S an ignorable personality which had lead to public distrust in the government. But the recent developments proved that V.S Achudanandhan is not the lion on decline but the same strong and confident lion for whom Kerala had voted for.

The present drama involves the Rishi Raj Singh, the inspector general of anti-piracy cell. Rishi Raj Singh became popular for his no compromise attitude towards the crimes. Before taking over the duty in anti-piracy cell, he was posted as inspector general in the Electricity Vigilance. It was when he came crashing down on many influential persons and concerns for stealing electricity. Many ended up paying lakhs of rupees as fine.

He was also popular for disguising himself as a loading worker and lorry cleaner to check the illegal nexus among the highway police and at the check posts. The I.G was his natural self when he ordered to raid a C.D manufacturing unit of riyan studio owned by the wife of inspector general Tomin Thankacherry, Anita Thankacherry. This was on the suspicion that the bulk of fake CDs seized from the Welgate studios was sourced from the Riyan Studio, but it turned into a hot controversy when the search was hurriedly called off by the DGP Raman Srivastava and Rishi Raj Sing was removed from his official post.

The order was issued on the ground that the enforcement of the copyright act was the preserve of the local police and only the ADGP, operations, had the jurisdiction in the matter . Interestingly Rishi Raj Singh did not face any intervention on other such searches which made it clear that some private interest was catered to, and not any rule or regulation.

This lead to wide range protest in the state. Which made the chief minister to look into the matter though it is not usual for a CPM chief minister to poke his nose into the matters under home ministers jurisdiction. V.S summoned DGP Raman Srivastava and gave him strict orders to reinstate Mr. Singh without any holding backs. The home ministry did not as usual, take any heed of the CM’s order was more than what V.S could take and he made it clear that if the orders were not implemented immediately, he would use his position as the CM to do so.
