Bus: Buses operate frequently on the Thiruvananthapuram-Kollam-Alappuzha-Ernakulam route.

Train: The railway station is about 4km. south of the town centre , close to the seafront.

Boat:  Alappuzha is the best starting point to explore the back waters. Regular ferries make the three hour trip to Kottayam.
